Our Story

Fish of the Mediterranean was born out of a love for the sea. Out of those endless hours holding a fishing rod, when every fish that came up was a little mystery you wanted to solve.

The idea started when, as a beginner fisherman, I was trying to identify the fish I was catching. I searched everywhere for the details, the name, the habits, and every time I ended up with scattered and confusing information. That is when I realised what was missing was a simple, warm guide to the fish of the Mediterranean, made with real care. So, through a lot of research and countless hours of fishing and work, this website came to life.

Fish of the Mediterranean is for the fishermen who want to know what they are holding in their hands, for the divers who love the deep, for researchers and students, and for everyone who simply adores the sea and wants to know it better. Every species page gathers its habitat, diet, reproduction, fisheries value, safety warnings and the local names used all around the Mediterranean.
